This page will be devoted to marching band tunes used for "community" performances. This could anything and everything like parades, community events, ceremonies, football pre-game/post-game, etc. I am a HUGE proponent of getting our ensembles out into the community. There is no better advocacy for what we do than to let the community SEE what we do. Listen, we all know that the bands are the best part of parades. Live music is so much better than speakers at your local veterans ceremony/event/festival.
America the Beautiful
This is a marching band parade-style arrangement of America the Beautiful (though it would work well in many settings - my band performed it at several ceremonies around Washington DC in 2018). It starts off with a triumphant fanfare before calming down into the first phrase of the tune, which is played in a more chorale-esque style.
The music then kids it back up for the chorus, with another triumphant fanfare to close things out. This would be great for all levels of marching ensemble, with some optional notes in upper parts to offer easier ranges (i.e. first trumpet). The orchestration is not particularly "thick," so this could be achieved by any size ensemble. This would follow under the Medium-Easy to Medium range for marching band classifications. Lastly, this would also work as a concert band arrangement and a concert percussion line is included. Sometimes it just helps to use it for multiple purposes, be it concerts, assemblies (like Veterans Day), etc. |
