Adaptable Quintets

Popular/Jazz/Etc Music
Picture
All of the tunes below are based off of a quintet formation. You need five players (with optional percussion-typically snare, bass, and tambourine-feel free to ad lib as desired). These can be played with a huge variety of combinations. First, you have your standard quintet formations - brass quintet, sax quintet, woodwind quintet - but then you can mix and match as desired. These can all be played with a full band too! Only one trumpet...no problem...the saxes got you covered, or flutes, or basically whatever. Have fun!!
The Entertainer by Scott Joplin (medium)
Here's an arrangement of the uber-popular ragtime hit. I've wanted to arrange this for a while due to the sheer popularity and playability of it. This is a great tune to have in the folder that EVERYONE recognizes. My sincere apologies to the bass voice though.. the "bottom" notes of the left hand aren't necessarily the most interesting. Everybody else gets a run at the melody (or harmony to the melody). ENJOY!

Note that these tunes work for FULL BAND as well as a quintet. A great "flex" ensemble.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game (medium easy)
For all those Spring/Summer small (or large) group performances where you need some great incidental background music. This could be great for musicians to go support local team - high school, college, etc. We've definitely played at various baseball and other sporting events over the years. Hopefully this tune can help get REAL MUSICIANS playing at some events and not just music piped in from the loud speakers. PLAY BALL!!
